mcp.so is the closest thing the MCP ecosystem has to a general store. It lists around 19.4K MCP servers plus clients, CLI tools, prompt workflows it calls loops, roughly 250 skills and even a small agents section, which makes it the only other directory that touches all three layers of the agentic stack. Submitting is simple and fully self-serve: $39 one-time gets you instant publication, a verified badge and a dofollow link. The directory codebase itself is open source, and the site reports strong reach, with a claimed 2.2M visitors per year.
The breadth is real, the curation is not. When we audited the catalog in August 2026, 10,559 of its roughly 19.4K servers sat in a single "Other" bucket, meaning more than half the directory is effectively uncategorized. The agents vertical is a ghost town at 23 listings. And because featured placement is purely pay-to-play, the sponsored slots have included crypto-eSIM and CFD-broker ads that have nothing to do with MCP, which erodes trust in what the site surfaces. It is also a side project of a prolific founder rather than the work of a dedicated team, and the maintenance level shows.
We built aiagentslisting.com to be what mcp.so gestures at: one directory where AI agents, MCP servers and agent skills are actually cross-linked, so an agent's page shows the servers it works with and the skills that extend it. Every listing is reviewed by a human before it goes live, and nothing sits in an "Other" pile. Rankings come from community engagement through our Heat score, never from spend, and a basic listing is free forever with transparent paid tiers on top. To be fair to mcp.so, we are newer and much smaller. We would rather earn scale with a quality bar than skip the review step.
If your interest is strictly MCP servers, Glama indexes over 80K of them with A to F quality grades and security audits, and PulseMCP pairs a daily-updated catalog with genuinely good editorial use-case pages. Neither covers agents or skills, but both take data quality more seriously than mcp.so does.
